What we are supporting:
In order to advance the energy transition and achieve our ambitious climate targets, we have to strive for an almost climate-neutral building stock by 2050. This is why we are supporting local authorities in modernising the energy systems of buildings and developing districts through the KfW programme "Energy-efficient urban redevelopment". A good level of handicraft skills is the basic prerequisite for all installation and maintenance works in this context.
What this will achieve:
Three pilot projects are leading the way:
- The prefab estate Drewitz is being turned into a garden district – and by 2050 perhaps will be the first emission-free neighbourhood in the City of Potsdam.
- Apartments are being modernised in Hildesheim Drispenstedt in order to reduce heat consumption. At the same time, the heating grid is being restructured to enable solar thermal power supply to these apartments.
- The eco neighborhood of Brückenau in the City of Siegburg aims at sustainable mobility and smart home solutions in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
